Hill House Manor

We acquired this house along with several others in May of 2004.  We have named it Hill House Manor because we have no idea who built it or owned it over the years so we chose to use the last name of  the current owners.   The house was a triplex when we bought it.  Two of the units were livable, one was and continues to be used for storage.  For over 3 years we rented out the units on a 12 month lease basis.  Not one tenant stayed for the full 12 months.  The downstairs unit has not had a tenant stay for 6 months.  The upstairs unit  has not had a tenant stay 2 months.  We became suspicious…….   Several Ghosthunter Teams have confirmed that this house is extremely paranormally active.  Some would call this an understatement

We have made the house available to Ghosthunting Teams.   For a small donation your team can have the run of the house for a day, evening, night , weekend or longer.  Not a member of a team, but want to be in a “real” ghost hunt with professional equipment?   We also offer overnight ghost hunts guided by our resident investigators.  All requested donations are used to offset the cost of maintenance, hot and cold running water, electricity and even WIFI and to provide equipment and upgrades to the facility.

Hill House Manor was built in the mid to late 1800s.  We don’t know exactly when.

Our research is ongoing.  Any info you have would be appreciated.

It is rumored that this was a “SpeakEasy” during Prohibition and we have reason to believe this is true.

Check back often as we add more info, videos, evps and personal accounts of paranormal activity.  Also take a look at the forum.  Ask a question, share an experience.  Have you ever lived in the house?  Did anything happen while you were there?  Write it up and send it to Linda.  She’d love to share it here.

I have lived in Gainesville for most of my life, and I have never even heard of this house! I guess I spent the last 30 years under a rock.

    • admin on November 19, 2010 at 2:13 pm

It has only had a “name” for a few years. You probably know the house. Especially if you went to school at the old middle school. We just try to keep a low profile in the neighborhood. :)

  8. kimberly on February 5, 2011 at 10:30 am

Hi, I was wanting to go to your Hill House Manor tour and my friend sent me some information on this and it stated that you wanted people to attend meetings and research. So here’s the deal, I am in a position where I hardley get any free time cause I am unable to leave my son with anoyone other than one person in my family cause of his condition. So I get free time with way advance notice and meetings and all that extra stuff would not be feasible. If that’s not ok I understand but it doesn’t hurt to ask. I would love to join you all in this hunt as this would be my first and I am totally excited about this (as Im sitting here watching ghost hunters, lol). Please advise. Thank you! Also a response to my email would be great but I can always come back and check this often. Thank you again.

    • admin on February 6, 2011 at 10:10 pm

      Hi,
Tours are by reservation and at this point in time require a certain number of people to put one on. That may change in the future. But, for now it has to be a group of people. You don’t have to get involved in the research team to have a tour or a full blown hunt. There are teams that will (for a fee) let you participate in an investigation. Here are a few: Brenda has A Haunting We Will Go. You can find them at http://www.Meetup.com there also is a link to them on the Teams page.
Kevin’s Ft Worth Paranormal has open invitational hunts about once a month. They are also linked to on the Teams page.
Tommy D has a radio show that hosts group hunts and training at HHM. If there are more, I hope they’ll see this and add their names.
Hope that answers all your questions. Hope to meet you at HHM one of these days.
      Linda

I went to school with a kid that was murdered in the eighties. I was either in Edison Elementary or GMS at the time and he was within a year of my class. I don’t remember his name but I remember what he looked like. His father lost his job and killed him and other member (s) of his family after school one day. I tried to google but found NOTHING! Hope this helps.

I lived in this house for a very short time in 2005 I believe it was. Me and my now husband lived here, and i spent a great deal of time alone in the house, i lived in the top apartment! I just found out about the paranormal activity in the house. It all makes sense now. I never went into the living room, or the room with all the windows and the stairs. It just freaked me out! I never was really scared in this house, but I did have an eerie feeling alot. One time, we were using the closet in the bedroom, and my husband had went through it looking for something and left it a mess. When I went to open it and straighten it up, it was all neat and clean. No joke! Also, me and my husband had been together for seven years, and after giving up hope of having a baby, I finally became pregnant in this house. We moved shortly after. I do not believe the spirits are evil in this house, but they are very real. Wow! I am doing research now and finding so much! And the bathroom is still that turquoise color with the old bathtub, i loved that tub! LOL

    Linda,

My name is Christi and I wanted to check with you to see what the possibility would be for us to bring a group of kids -age 15-20 to do an investigation or tour?– There would be adults to supervise.
We are from The Parker House – haunted attraction in Denton, TX. We are trying to have ongoing activities for the crew so that we can have fun together during the off season. I am putting together some of the activities and we would like to come visit at some point soon. Please contact me with details – charges and dates etc. We would love to come visit.

    Thank you

We’d need to look at how old the kids are. and look at what’s available on the calendar. I will email you so we can firm up details. We try to have kids events during late afternoon so that they get to experience at least an hour of darkness, but not too late or too much. That part will depend on the agegroup.
