So...... I took the grandsons with me to HHM today. We left Hickory Creek around 9 or 9:30 this morning. Del had been playing music until 2 AM and didn't get home until 3 AM which meant he needed to sleep in and since I needed to put down some tile in the dining room and kitchen of one of the rent houses 2 doors down from HHM, I thought it would be perfect to kill several birds with one stone by getting the boys out of the house so Del could sleep and they could "help" me by passing me tiles and keeping each other busy. One of the boys is 6 and the other is almost 4. They get along pretty well for cousins who only see each other once a year, but they ARE boys and they do like to stake their claim on things..... like toys and chairs and people and crayons etc. It promised to be an interesting day.
Anyway.... I turned on the window unit at HHM as soon as we arrived and turned on the TV to a kid's station and left them there while I went to the rent house to get things set up. There is no electricity on in this house right now and the temp today reached 105 here. Not the best day to put down floors, but I was on a mission! We did run an extension cord to the house from HHM and set up a portable AC unit that we keep for these situations. It didn't cool down the house, but it knocked it down to the 80's anyway.
The boys lasted about 20 minutes in Hill House and decided they would rather be with me in a hot, dirty old house with no AC, no electricity, no TV than stay in Hill House. Neither one of them knows what Hill House Manor is. They both think it's just a neat old house that Papa an GG go to sometimes on the weekends.
Needless to say, the floor tiles took a lot longer with my two little helpers, but Del (aka Papa) showed up around noon, took us all to an air conditioned lunch place with a kids indoor playground (Arby's, she whispered under her breath) then took care of a little business and took the boys back to Hickory Creek with him so that I could finish my project. They left around 3.
I finished up about an hour later and was putting everything back in HHM then sat down in front of the AC in the surveillance room when I heard the boys arguing over some toy or book or something.
"Wait a minute.... they left with Del over an hour ago." "Must be some neighborhood kids" I thought.
I stood and looked out the side window. No kids. Went to the front of the house. No kids. Heard a knock at the front door. "Ah... It must be the next door neighbors. They have 3 little girls who stay there a lot."
No, It was the old man from next door.
"Where are the kids?" I asked. "Not here today. I wanted to talk to Del." he replied.
So... I KNOW I heard kids talking. Sweet little voices in the next room.... But there were no physical universe kids anywhere near the house, nor in it. Did I have a paranormal experience?
You know.... I'll take the personal experience over pictures any day of the week!
Broad daylight, too.
This afternoon was devoted to cleaning up the storage side. phew!!!!!! Had to wear a mask it was so dusty over there. Found a few places where the wind was getting in and sealed them (for the most part). Got rid of a lot of debris that has accumulated over the winter and swept at the dust for a bit. ![]()
If I get a second wind I might run over it with a mop. Take THAT, Dorbs! ha ha ha. It's hard to cut down on the dust in this old place. Anybody interested in a cleanup day at Hill House Manor? followed by a ghost hunt that night, of course.
Brenda was here with her group "A Haunting We Will Go" last night. I've only heard from one member so far, but she said it was and amazing night. So, I look forward to hearing more from them. Apparently someone had a thermal imager and got some great results during a healing session. Hope they will write it up for us.
Tonight's hunt starts at 7 and I look forward to seeing if my efforts this afternoon have stirred up more than dust. ![]()
more later.....
We had about 4 inches of snow Saturday at Hill House Manor! On the first day of SPRING! Now there are thunderstorms.
Anyway..... Saturday's hunt was cancelled due to weather, but they have rescheduled for this Friday night. It's Brenda's group called "A Haunting We Will Go". They are on Meetup ( www.meetup.com )if you're interested and they come to HHM about once a month. They always get some interesting EVP's so we look forward to hearing their stories.
HHM had a meetup a couple of weeks ago and it was the first time in a long time that we had mostly "newbies". They weren't all new to the paranormal, jut new to Hill House Manor. It was great and everyone seemed to have some type of experience, although a small group slipped out early to experience the "activity" at the casino. ![]()
You can join us by joining our meetup group http://ghosts.meetup.com/819/ . We always have a good time and usually have at least a few experiences to talk about as well as EVP's. The next one is on Friday April the 16th.
There is a private hunt scheduled this Saturday. Some of the group have been here before and some haven't, so that will be interesting.
There's just been so much going on it's hard to keep up with everyone!!!!!
Come for a visit as soon as you can.
Is that you?
That is the EVP that the team from Alvaredo recorded Saturday night at Hill House Manor. It is so clear you think it's just one of the team members.
Wes was reviewing the recording right after it was done. It was soon enough that everyone remembered the conversation. There were only 6 people in the team. 2 women, 4 men. The EVP is a woman and definitely NOT one of the women in the house. This is one of the clearest EVP's you;ll ever hear. Can't wait for Wes to get a copy of it to us!
Friday night was a VERY small group of HHM members. Haven't heard yet what they got, but will post when we do.
That's it for now!
There is no doubt this is my favorite time of year at Hill House Manor. The summer heat has finally yielded to pleasant evenings and the rockers on the front porch get a lot more use this season.
As is our tradition we will be "closed" to corporeal beings on the night of Halloween. Too many people expect us to be one of the Halloween scare houses that night. In fact the month of October tends to be a little slow as people enjoy the Halloween festivities offered up and down I-35. Our non corporeal residents are pretty patient, though. And if you do choose to spend an evening with us in October you will not be disappointed. As long as you're looking for pristine EVPs and not the Texas Cainsaw Massacre.
There have been a lot of Spirit Rescuers here over the summer and you would think that the house would be less active because of all their hard work. In fact, the opposite is true. It has become almost standard to get EVP's during the tour and on into the night.
The "ladies of the evening" are still flirting with one or two men in each group, trying to stir up business, no doubt. No one has yet come up with a way to pay them for services, so as of this writing, I haven't heard of any actual completed ghostly transactions of the cat house variety. But, you never know......
There is apparently a new non corporeal who has turned the rescues into a game in which he is the goalie. That's not a typo. Think Hockey. He seems to try to stand in the way of the beings who have come to the house for help. He is said to be showing up in several haunted locations and is not restricted to Hill House Manner. He is certainly making it more challenging for the Spirit Rescuers!
This Friday is our first Start late Stay Late meetup. We won't even open up until 10:30, but will stay until 4 AM. Then Saturday we have a group coming in from Alvaredo.
We've also been contacted by Todd Sheets of NightWatch radio who is talking about doing an investigation and broadcast in the Spring.
Lots of activity. See you soon.
